Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

There's just something not right about their fried rice dishes, and I'm pretty sure it's the copious amounts of oil they use to fry it. Despite it being unhealthy, I don't know if the rice necessarily has any taste -- just an oily fragrance and texture. It's like they forgot the salt or something. I haven't tried anything else, and hopefully other items on their menu taste better... because the Fried Rice... well, I'd only get that if I were desperate (which I am, most of the time). The prices are decent, but if the food isn't passable, then I might be headed for the Panda Express (out of desperation, yet again).

A nice interior with nice statues and layout. The food was pretty decent and they give you plenty of fortune cookie and sauce. This is one of the better Chinese food places in the area and is easily accessible on this busy street. The beef tasted great and the rice alos was pretty steamy and more unusually tasty than other places. Nothing to complain here.

I'm completely baffled by the great reviews for this place. I've ordered twice now. This place is the epitome of low-grade Chinese. The hot and sour was the best part of the order, nicely vinegary. It had large vertical slices of bell peppers in it, inexplicably, which seemed only partially cooked, but fine, I ate around them. The crab rangoon filling was dry and the outside was unappealingly chewy. The egg roll was mushy and flavorless (small points for the mini shrimp that were folded in, however). I also tried orange chicken from them on a separate order. Texture was horrific - gloopy corn syrup based sweet and sour sauce, a few anemic looking orange slices, and lots of wilted cabbage and lettuce sliding around in the sauce. The breading on the pieces was good, concealing a tiny amount of rubbery, weird chicken. Gross. I see pictures of carryout orange chicken with the sauce packaged separately. That's not what I recieved, so possibly they've changed owners/management since then? Mine was soupy and mixed into the same container as the chicken. As a side note, all condiments are pre-packaged, none made in house, including that terrible sweet and sour sauce that comes in a plastic envelope, which is all you get with your crab rangoon or egg roll. This whole order was also delivered after about 90 minutes of waiting, well after the typical hour delivery window. I don't think this explains the quality of the food, but it did mean everything was delightfully lukewarm. I gave them another shot before writing this review, and the delivery was on time, but the food was just as bad. I like Americanized Chinese as much as anybody else when it's good quality. This isn't it. Go to Szechuan House instead, they're right down Ogden. Won't be ordering from Golden Wok again.

Had the Singapore fried vermicelli rice noodles. I think the restaurant name Jin1 bao3 "gold treasure" is supposed to be a pun for Jin4bao3 "eat until stuffed". I certainly did eat until stuffed. Those fried noodles were pretty good! Maybe update this review after I eat there a few more times.

I've ordered from Golden Wok II a few times now and I'm just impressed each time with their wonderful service, prompt delivery, and quality of their food. Ordering online is very easy to use with a minimum order of $10. Some of their best dishes are $10.25 so that is never an issue. The only suggestion I have is to include photos of the dishes. Not everyone understands the descriptions of the dishes but a visual may help for those not familiar with the different Chinese dishes In any clarifications on my order, they aren't afraid to call and double check. I really appreciate the time they take to make sure my order is right. One time I ordered "beef chow fun" but my family traditionally orders the dry style. They gave me a call and asked if I meant the dry style. Their delivery is always prompt, on-time, and always with a friendly greeting. The portion and quality of food is great! You will never go hungry. In addition, they always include plastic forks, soy sauce, mustard, sweet & sour sauce, and fortune cookies. Love it!

Meh. The chicken wings are cut in half and then deep fried. Soooo, the meat shrinks up and it looks like a little meatball on a stick. Too spicy for me. Ten. 10 chicken wing halves and all ten were drummettes. The ribs are tough. I simple put them in the oven again, BUT WHY DO I BUY FOOD AND THEN RECOOK IT. My general tsos chicken is super fluffy. Little balls of fluff with chicken centers. I wish they deep fried it longer before the pan sear to get a crispier bite. It was a large quantity, though.
(3)Dan K.
Eh, they have a lunch buffet which is minimal at best. But fairly cheap at $7. Egg rolls, egg foo young, choice of egg drop or hot and sour (which was sweet, weird...) soup, some fried chicken, some other chicken dish, a beef dish and some sweet and sour chicken. They also had a weak looking salad, some jello and other stuff which I didn't check out. First buffet I've been to in a long time that didn't have crab rangoon. They also have real fruit smoothies, but I didn't really taste the fruit. If you check in on yelp, you get a smoothie for $2 so check it out.

Ok I have been going to this establishment for 7 yrs now for my 6 kids birthday or graduations . I b have always been treated kind but like I w stupid and they talk behind your back. Big proportion I must say and they have never screwed up my order once.
(3)George H.
First timer and I must say it was the worst meal I ever had! Wonton soup served with saltines? No taste to the broth at all. General Tso chicken was more like mushed fried balls of chicken. Couldn't taste the meat. Though service was good I definitely Would not recommend.
(1)Dion B.
I ordered the sesame chicken the other day and took one bite and sent it straight to the trash. I do not believe for one second that they are serving real chicken!!????? I don't know what that is, but it doesn't look or taste like chicken. it was truly disgusting.

I love this place. What more can I possibly say? I've been coming here for years. Usually I would just order takeout but recently started dining in. One word of advice- portions are HUGE. Plan accordingly. Husband and I couldn't decide on an appetizer so we ordered 2 different ones. Big mistake. By the time our entrees came I could hardly move. I had just got done eating what had to be the largest potstickers in this time zone. Husband had some sort of pork wrapped in bacon which he also enjoyed. I'm also a huge fan of their eggrolls. They're the kind with the really thick wrappers that kind of bubble up when they're cooked. Just how I like em! The entrees are definitely meant to be shared. Whenever we go I don't even make a dent in my plate. The rest I take home for leftovers. Which last for days. Want to feed a small country? Come here and order a few different things. I've tried a little bit of everything here and have yet to be disappointed, but I'm particularly fond of their chow foon. Another bonus- if you have a stuffy nose, cold, or sinus problem.. Just eat half a spoonful of the hot mustard they bring to the table. It's quite an invigorating experience. I promise it'll clear you right up!

Took my girls tonight,, lulled in with a coupon. Dinner was OK. Nothing i need to go back for. Wasn't bad, just dull. Very americanized chinese. Good propotions, especially the lo mein. Beef and broccoli was really salty. Perfect for a pair of 6 test olds.
(2)Tony G.
Ordered egg drop soup and beef fried rice through grubhub, it arrived 10 minutes ahead of schedule and both were good.
(4)Kim M.
We went to Golden Wok for dinner with a group of seven. The staff was so friendly and fun. Excellent service and nice extras. Huge portions, and everything we had was delicious! We tried the egg drop soup, vegetarian egg rolls, shrimp and peapods, happy family, and bbq pork with broccoli, and we liked them all. We highly recommend this place for the taste, value and great service. It's a fun place to go with a group. They were great about wrapping up all the leftovers separately for us and giving everyone extra white rice to take home.
(4)V C.
(Review based on delivery) Excellent general tso's, veggie fried rice & crab rangoon. Sweet & sour chicken is tasty but very tangy. The egg rolls aren't that great, though.
(5)Kathy J.
So sad I live out of state and can only enjoy Golden Wok II when visiting family. We were recently in town visiting and immediately thought of this place when we had taste for Chinese. Ordered food for 6, egg foo yung, fried rice, egg drop soup, potstickers, egg rolls...everything was great and there was SO much left over! Delivery was excellent. The driver was equipped to run my credit card at the door. We miss them so much. Phoenix americanized Chinese leaves much to be desired compared to Golden Wok. Hey Portillos opened a restaurant in Phoenix. Maybe Golden Wok III is in our future?
(5)Samantha L.
Huge portions for a great price!

Having recently re-review the Golden Wok buffet in Villa Park, I figured it would be a good idea to review the completely unrelated Golden Wok II in Glen Ellyn. Golden Wok II is a small Chinese restaurant located off of Roosevelt Road. I used to live within reasonable wok-ing distance (ah, I love terrible puns) of this place when I was younger and visited quite a few times in the late 1980s and early 1990s. And not much has changed, especially the decor. The Golden Wok II is like stepping back into the 1980s, it's said that if you listen really closely you can hear people discussing the merits of Reaganomics in the background. I find there to be an element of charm and certainly nostalgia to this decor and overall found it to be fairly pleasant. After perusing the menu I settled on General Tao's chicken as the entree and crab rangoon as an appetizer. The crab rangoon came out first with two different sauces in bottles to try with it. One was like a spicy mustard, the other was more of a sweet and sour style sauce. The actual crab rangoon's themselves had a reddish inside, quite a bit different than the normal cream cheese filled ones you find most places. The amount of crab meat inside here seemed to be higher than most places. The General Tao's chicken came out a little ways after and with it was white rice and some brocoli mixed in. The chicken wasn't particularly spicy and had more of a sweet taste, some of the individual pieces of chicken were tougher meat that I would have preferred. The chicken was a little disappointing to me, but not bad. Overall I'd say Golden Wok II is an average Chinese restaurant. The crab rangoon was excellent, my chicken was so so. I may visit again and try a different entree. Overall it's worth stopping at if you're in the area. I am giving it three stars.

I ordered from here tonight because I was craving some good Chinese food! I have been going to the location in la grange park for years, so I thought I would give this place a try! The woman I talked to on the phone was so nice and the delivery was super fast! Since I ordered delivery, leniency is a must since eating in is almost always better. In saying that, I have ordered in from the location in la grange park as well and their food has always been just as good as it is in the restaurant. I was slightly disappointed because the food just didn't measure up to the food I am accustomed to at golden wok. The egg rolls were the same as the egg rolls at their other location, but all of the other food I ordered was quite bland in comparison. The chicken wings were also slightly undercooked. I LOVE the wings at the other location because they are always crispy and delectable! I also noticed the fried rice was different too. It just lacked the flavor that I am used to. Overall, I will give this place a try again, probably in house next time. I am hoping that it was just a bad night!

Great wait staff & food!

I've rarely been to a Chinese restaurant and not finished all my food. We ordered vegetable low mein, fried rice and spicy schezuan....All three were really bland. Too greasy but I could tell they didn't use sesame oil which gives a nice taste and is used mostly in Chinese dishes. Their hot sauce was typical store bought....a complete disappointment! We are never going back!
(1)Mina H.
So the only reason I came in and got food the other night... was because this place seems popular and Yelp had a $5 coupon deal off a $20 purchase and I didnt want to head over to a group gathering without a contribution. Service was okay, a little abrupt... chalk that up to the culture barrier... no pleasantries but the order came up fast. Normally a Chinese place cant go wrong with General Tao chicken or spicy beef... but I've found the exception. The chicken if that IS the mystery niblets buried in breading and watered down goopy beige (sweet n sour?) vs. the expected spicy brown sauce... accented by a sad chunk of broccoli or carrot garnish... was barely discernible and essentially tasteless... Not to outdone by the "spicy beef szechuan" which was a 85% goopy sauce mess with mostly vegetables accented by mushy undercooked beef that looked like it was julienned by a 5yo. Random sizes with the consitency of stale chewing gum. The rice was fine.. but I'm not a fan of white rice. No surprise... no takers on these offerings at the dinner... ugh.
(2)Sarah J.
I love this place for Chinese food. I grew up eating at this restaurant when ever we would order Chinese Food and even though I dont live particularly close any more, I still try a get their food once in a blue moon.
(5)Sherwin C.
Standard Americanized Chinese food with good portion sizes and a decent price.
(3)Aming S.
Horrible! it used to be good. All the food we ordered taste so bad. What a waste of money. NEVER AGAIN!
(1)Sean C.
Firstly: super nice mom and pop place - the people working here are very nice. I ordered a pick-up lunch for work and within a few minutes it was ready. The outside isn't anything special, but the inside vibe has that old-china-town feel to it - clean, but has style. The food was just OK. Not bad, but could've used a little more... something. I got the sesame chicken which could've used more sauce. Less sauce makes the chicken dry and flavorless. A big plus is the portion size. $10 will get you enough for TWO people so keep that in mind.

Went here for dinner with the wife after work on a Friday night. She had heard great things about it, and I just remember wondering "Where's the Golden Wok I"? Ah, whatever. The first thing you notice about the place, besides the 1970's-1980's Chinese restaurant chic interior design (and botan rice candy... that brings back some memories, mostly unpleasant) is that it was positively slammed at about 6:30 PM. The phone was ringing about every 5 seconds, and the delivery guy was constantly in and out. Throw in the take-out orders, and it was generally chaos in the front part of the restaurant. Fortunately there were plenty of places to sit down. We ordered potstickers, and these came out pretty good. A little heavy on the onion, and served with this vinegar-y, fermented sauce whose origin I am entirely unsure of. They were good. Next up was my order of Szechwan Chicken (hot and spicy). I believe my comment at the time was "so subtle as to be nearly tasteless". For certain, they held back on the intensity of the hot and spicy part, but the wife liked it, so fair enough. Besides, Golden Wok II made up for it with my wife's order of crispy sesame chicken. This was perfectly breaded, fried and covered in a sweet (but not too sweet sauce) that I liked quite a bit. It's not the best in the suburbs, but Golden Wok II offers good food at a good price. I'd go back.

This place has a lot of Chinese decorations and architecture, making it feel very authentic. The service is neither bad nor very good. The waiter filled our drinks and checked on us frequently, but it seemed like it was a long time in between. We got the appetizer sampler for two, which had ribs, crab rangoon, egg rolls, and fried shrimp. The appetizer was just okay. The crab rangoon had a lot of breading and the egg roll wrap was very thick. We shared the kung pao chicken, which was a good decision because the portion was huge! The chicken was much better than the appetizer. It did not have too much breading, it was hot, and had just the right amount of spiciness (I like spicy). There was so much chicken that we split the leftovers and ate it for lunch and dinner the next day! I think that four people could have shared one order of kung pao chicken! I would go back to Golden Wok when I'm feeling the Chinese Chicken, and maybe I'll try some of their other stuff too.
(3)Rebecca C.
Golden Wok never disappoints. The wide variety of dishes are enticing enough to try something new each visit, especially the suggested entrees. The seafood war bar with sizzling rice is a favorite, as there's a nice amount of fresh shrimps, scallops and crab with a tasty variety of vegetables such as baby corn, broccoli to water chestnuts and mushrooms. The appetizer for 2 is a great start to a meal that's close enough to the meals served in Beijing and Hong Kong. Portions are very generous, staff is friendly and helpful and salt isn't a major ingredient - making Golden Wok a great choice!
(4)Lisa S.
Went here with my husband late one night after we found that the place we normally get Chinese food from closed. I am really impressed by this restaurant. It kind of looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but man, the food is fantastic and service is on point. We ordered entrees with shrimp and mushrooms, and I was a bit skeptical of the quality, but everything was really fresh and tasty. You can tell this place knows what they're doing. Definitely recommend it to anybody in the area.
(5)Brian C.
Been coming here for years great food nice service the wait staff was great and making sure the food was out in a proper time and was always checking in to see if we needed anything from start to finish this place is we're to go get great food in the Lombard area
(4)Jay N.
I've come here a few times because of co-workers and I've now put my foot down and refuse to go here. Although the lunch buffet is quite cheap, $6.95, I can't eat it anymore. The Mongolian beef has no onions and like another reviewer said, it's essentially beef chop suey. The sweet and sour sauce has no onions in it and all the vegetables are pretty soggy. The tiny chicken wings were all burnt and the hot and sour soup was way too salty. The bbq lo mein were not real noodles but very thin noodles from a package. It's a musty dark environment as well. I tried carryout as well and although you get a lot, there is no real taste to the food. The fried rice is just darkened with soy sauce without any genuine vegetables and the beef is quite tough. It's really hard to enjoy a decent meal here.
(1)Rick A.
Just moved here from nyc. I was afraid I wouldn't find great asain. Well we did the food is GREAT. Delivery guy was quick and very nice.
(5)Munyeong C.
This is one of our favorite chinese restaurants in the area and it's only 10 min away from us. I love their egg foo yung, dry beef chow fan, egg rolls and more. Unlike other chinese restaurants, their food tastes not too strong (msg), but very savory. The portion size is amazingly large. We usually get take-out and eat the leftover the next day. It's actually more delicious the next day because the spices and sauce are well absorbed into the tofu and vegetables.
(5)Steve S.
If you're a fan of kitschy, old fashioned Chinese restaurants that are a dying breed, as I unabashedly am (the reviewer who mentioned 70s/80s decor had it right), this place is worth checking out. I caught the $6.95 lunch buffet on a Saturday. As others have noted, this is not a buffet restaurant, but they set up a small one for lunch. Within 30 minutes of opening, the place had a decent crowd -- some people, at least, appear to think it's a destination, at least for the value. The food was standard Cantonese-American, nothing exciting, but fresh and well prepared. There was bbq pork fried rice, egg foo young, sweet sour chicken (the battered chunks and bright red sauce kind, which I avoid), Szechuan chicken with peanuts, beef chow foon (unexpected, and really good), beef with broccoli, egg rolls, tempura vegetables, and (thank you!) a pan of bright veggies (broccoli, baby corn, carrot, water chestnuts, bok choy) in a clear sauce, so you can get a balanced meal and not eat all meat and simple carbs. Oh, and some really addictive chicken wings fried crispy but lightly coated in some glisteny sauce. Soup is also included.

I had a $10 credit for Groupon Now that was expiring soon, so I figured I should use it on something local. I'm living paycheck to paycheck and can always appreciate a semi-free meal. Golden Wok II's Groupon Now for a 2 Person Buffet for $10 was perfect. I cashed in my voucher and printed off my coupon. After all was said and done, I paid $10 for additional Smoothies for myself and my man and a generous tip for the waiter. The Lunch Buffet is normally $6.95 and it shows. This is not a buffet restaurant. It is simply a Chinese restaurant that offers a limited buffet during lunch. I wasn't aware of that and was a little disappointed; however, I was able to fill a plate with General Tsao's Chicken, Beef Kow, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Green Beans, Chicken Friend Rice and Egg Rolls. They brought out a complimentary Egg Drop Soup and I was set for lunch. I recommend the $2 Fruit Smoothies in Mango or Strawberry-Banana. Definitely not the best buffet, but it did the trick. The menu changes often, so I'd like to try some other food. It's a much better option than one of the other Chinese places down the street. The tea is good, the soup was OK, the food is alright and the cookies and smoothies were pretty tasty. Service was spot on. We had a waiter check up on us, a busboy refilled our waters multiple times and the owners took care of our check at the end. They were all very friendly and we had a pleasant lunch.
(3)Susan T.
If you like flavorless Chinese food, then go for it. We moved here 20 years ago, tried it, didn't like it. Thank goodness we found Beijing. Then Bea sold it and it was never the same. Now closed. So, thought we'd try Golden Wok again. Hard to believe people like this place. Maybe they haven't had good Chinese food?? I rarely write a negative review, but this place pretty much deserves less than one star. How can you screw up Fried Rice?!?
(1)Kelsey B.
Food was fresh and delicious. Chicken was AMAZING but egg roll was a little oily.. Service was outstanding!!!! Would definitely come back!!!
(5)Dalibor Z.
Well I'll say this much, for the price of the buffet, it couldn't have been better. Not a large selection, but there were a few choice things that were delicious. The Pork Egg Foo Yung was pretty good, even though I'm not a huge fan of pok. The Egg Rolls were great. Probably my favorite in a while. The Fruit Smoothies were pretty good, and you can't argue the $2 price tag. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, and my water supply was maintained (and we know how important that is to me). Overall, I'll probably go back, if I get bored of the Chinese place that's in the same strip by my work. (They give me a discount.)
(3)Abe I.
I love this place. The portions are never disappointing, the flavors are always on point, and the people that work there are genuinely nice ! I've NEVER had a problem with this place :) I recommend the shrimp fried rice and vegetable chop suey. Yummmmmmmmm!
(5)Vodka Sauce C.
Found a deal on groupon 2 buffet for $10 . Was pretty good
(3)Daddy K.
The worst Chinese I have had ever. Lunch buffet?? OMG, the food looked like canned food. I think I can cook the better Chinese food.
(1)Dom D.
I have enjoyed the Golden Wok II for many years. They are my go-to choice for food when I have to eat out. They feature fresh ingredients and wholesome preparations that I count on for a healthy meal. Also, the service is top-notch. The staff remember my name and even my food preferences. Those are qualities that are hard to find these days. And you can't beat the prices. I feel like they deliver a good value for the price.
(4)Lor F.
Went to the buffet today. Our visit started out with my arms sticking to the table it was so imbedded with #%@%. It wouldn't wipe off. The owner tried and then he shrugged. Our waiter coughed a hocker in his hand and put his hand in his pocket. I b-lined to the buffet before he touched anything. Thankfully there was an efficient busman to pour the water. I made sure the waiter didn't touch anything at our table. I was going to tell the lady owner, but she was already acting funny to me because I told her the soup wasn't hot. Later I showed the male owner I couldn't cut any of my pork. He again shrugged and said that's how pork is. He did offer to get me some chicken, but after seeing the cleanliness of the restaurant/washrooms, and the sneezing waiter, I was done. Golden Wok has a calender of their buffet menu and it changes every other day. We foolishly went when they first opened on the second day and every item was a different temp. Looked and tasted like it was from the end of the day before buffet. I'm sure of it. The DuPage Health Dept. should pay this place a visit.
(1)Jeanette K.
I will gladly drive 20 minutes out of my way for Golden Wok. When that craving for orange chicken starts, I hop onto 355 and Golden Wok here I come! I dined in once many moons ago, but mostly I just get takeout. The egg rolls and the orange chicken are to die for!
(5)M L.
I was actally disapointed in the taste of the food after reading the reviews. I dont know what the standard for Chinese food here is but compared to ours back in Cali I was not impressed. I only had the ornge chicken. Maybe it's not the best rep for the place. Chicken was too dry and orange sause was bland almost watery. Sorry IL.
(2)Stove P.
Gaudy, tawdry, gauche, kitschy? Yes. Delicious, warm, friendly, unpretentious? Oh yes. See, don't judge a restaurant on its dated decoration. Once you taste the food and talk to the staff, those ill assorted hangings and placings become charming. I've just taught you a lesson in racism. This is the kind of restaurant that hops on your lap and purrs, and you can't help but oblige to pet. Though this restaurant sees most of its business through quick 20 second interactions with the customers who request delivery, it wins your heart with a quaint sit-down visit. Golden Wok serves a typical Chinese fare quite thoughtfully. Its presentation isn't keeping its average at 4 1/2 stars, but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in service. The prices are very reasonable, delivery is quick, and its interior is a must see for all those with the slightest vision. This redeems Roosevelt Road's sub-par restaurants. Well almost.
(4)David K.
We had to stop in again to see if it was as good this time... +1 for consistency!
(5)Carmella P.
If you follow my reviews, you know by now that I judge food like a picky feline and can be very "catty" in my reviews. I'm going to start by telling you that I probably would have never gone into this place without a Groupon, even though I've heard quite a few friends rave about it. To put it quite simply, I have a favorite Chinese place or two, which basically precludes me from having to ever visit any others and risk wasting my time and money! And while I can't complain about the service, or even the quality of the food here, it says a lot that I gave my doggy bag to my friend to take home for her brother. Thus, since it wasn't as good as my usual hangouts, I won't be hanging here again any time soon.
(2)George D.
You recently provided feedback to Golden Wok for your visit on 11/05/2011. Below is their response to your feedback. Your Comment: "Used to work nearby and eat there for lunch, but that was almost 10 yrs ago. Not much has changed, the decor needs updating, but the food is still excellent. I love Cantonese style Egg Rollsand their shrimp fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken for the kids, was succulent and tender. I am glad they are on the Rewards Network program. We'll be back!"
(5)Adam S.
Excellent American Chinese food. Every time I'm back home in Addison, I make a special trip here for their great lunch specials. The buffet is really inexpensive (though quality is high for a buffet since they don't have as many different items as some places) but I usually just get a lunch special for a dollar less since they give way more food than could possibly be consumed at lunch anyway. Good gravy, I'm hungry just thinking about it.... (which is to say "good gravy" the expression, though their sauces are also very good and hunger-inducing.) I also went here with my parents once for dinner, they even have Drambuie and other alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices.
(5)Jim K.
Great little place. Some stuff is average, but the Hot &Sour Soup is some of the best you will ever have....and it is hot. Likewise, the Pot Stickers as well as the Singapore Rice Noodles are worth the trip just for those two items. Unpretentious neighborhood place, great value and $3.00 Tsingtao Beer.

Very generous portions. Go for the lunch menu specials, a much better deal than the buffet. Egg rolls are superb, and if you ask they can make some dishes gluten free. Great service, friendly staff, and decorative atmosphere. If you go in the evening check out the vintage drinks. Tropical standards like Singapore sling, or zombie at 1970s prices.

went there tonight and carryout order of orange chicken, szechwan (sp?) beef and a bbq pork fried rice. got it home....tasted the orange chicken........horrible. tasted the beef....horrible. tasted the fried rice....pretty good. called the nice man who owns the place....politely asked for a refund, and he was very nice about it, gave me no problems. so then i went to my usual spot for chinese in glen ellyn, dragon one. maybe the cook at golden wok was having a bad night...or was new, i have no idea.......but i don't think what i got was representative of the normal food served there.

My daughter loves this place. With that being said I was not impressed. I've eaten here twice. The restaurant is not very modern....dingy even. I rate the food based on the quality of the meat served in the dishes. I thought the chicken was not very good and the beef slightly better. Didn't try any pork. Waiter was rude and didn't seem interested in checking on us while we dined. Just not very impressed. Appetizers were decent. Prices ok. We are going elsewhere these days to try for better options.

I ordered the Mongolian Beef and BBQ Pork appetizer and it was not that good. The M/B was like a Beef Chop Suey with hot peppers and no onions. The BBQ Pork was like jerky and inedible. Hard and dry. My dog had a hard time getting it down. I will never order from them again, There is a better place in Lombard by Finley and 22nd. Plus they have sushi.

I ordered for takeaway couple of times. They were fast in the service. food was good. I ordered pork chow mein once.It tasted good except that the pork was bit chewy.Their egg rolls and fried wanton are good as well. Wish they improve on their chop suey dishes.tried chicken and didn't like it. For the price of around 7-8 dollars the amount of decent food makes it a good place to come by again..

I've eaten here for lunch and dinner and had their take out too. All in all, probably have had their food 30+ times. I guess that says a lot, yet here's more. Dine in is 1st choice. Where else can you experience the Giant Buddha and other kitschy items?! The food is, of course, hotter and fresher than carry out. btw the carry out is also good. Among others we find the sesame chicken, fried rice, egg foo young and soups to be good. The lunch buffet was pretty nasty and I don't think I'd ever do that again. Service is OK to slow and below friendly, but who cares if the food is good, fast, hot and priced right which are all true.

I am a huge fan of the weekend lunch buffet here. I can't believe how cheap it is ($6.95 or so) and that you get soup as well. the servers are very friendly and will remember you if you come back within a few weeks of your last visit. The buffet is small - this isn't like a Great Chinese Buffet, but the selections are traditional and there is plenty to choose from. Their chicken on a stick is great, and the appetizers include spicy wings and greasy dumplings - yum! Everytime we go, I forget when they open on Sundays and there are always a few of us waiting in the lot for the place to open - that tells you the place has good food!

It appears it's the usual Chinese restaurant, nothing out of the ordinary here. Ordered 2 dishes and both tasted very similar. It appears the chef has limited ingredients to work with. Not memorable.

Fast delivery, decent food at good prices. I can't comment about dining-in (because we've never done it) but we've never been disappointed with the food or delivery. Best place we've found for American-Chinese cuisine in the area!

The buffet has extremely less options. The taste is just average.

This is some great American-Chinese. I went here off a whim and will come back for sure. Everything was very fresh and plentiful. The beef with broccoli is a hard dish to to find done right, usually you just get average seasoning packet crap but this was amazing. Big pieces of beef and a perfect sauce. Their crab rangoon was really good too, not to much cream cheese like most places.

Golden Wok II is just as good as the original in La Grange Park. Great, very traditional American-style Chinese food in a wildly decorated restaurant. Lots of dragons, waterfalls, artwork, and cool fish tanks. I can't stand bland fast food Chinese, but I absolutely love this place. They have a cheap, plentiful lunch buffet. And their delivery is super-quick. It does seem to have gotten a little more expensive over the years, but so has every Chinese restaurant I know of, so I don't hold it against them.

Order from here at least once a week for delivery-the staff is super friendly and we have had really big delivery orders for our workplace and its always correct-the food us super fresh and good!! Best chinese in the area hands down! I love the chicken with broccoli and always ask them to make it spicy-fantastic!!

Growing up in town this place has been a staple when the craving for Chinese food hits. Great prices, great food , huge portions and a wonderful staff.

Lunch buffet here including tip comes in under $10, and the value is unbeatable. Very good variety of entrees, appetizers, salad, soup and tea all included in the less than $7 price. Apparently they have a buffet in the evening as well that includes things like crab legs, but I have not tried an evening visit myself. Service is efficient and friendly. If you are a United Mileage Plus member, you get miles here on top of good food at bargain price. Free parking as well.

I live right by here. I often walk just to get lunch. The entrees are low in cost and abundant in portion size. And so delicious!!! The dinner portions are HUGE and equally delicious. Delivery is quick prompt and friendly. The help is always kind! We are regulars, and they always ask how we are and we were are up to, etc. It is nice, because service like that these days is a lost art. Some days at luch it is really packed and the wait staff can seem rushed, and like they are trying to "push" you out of there, but that is my only complaint. Everyone I know of loves this place! Yum yum! Great food at a super price!!!

I ordered a bunch of take out on a recommendation from a neighbor. I have had the LaGrange location's take out many many times over the last 10 years and had no idea the two locations were related. The service was nothing over and above, it was take-out keep in mind, meaning there was no "hello" or "thank-you" or anything like that BUT, the food, oh the food..........OMG!!! The egg rolls were fantastic! The shrimp fried rice was amazing. The chicken broccoli was unbelieveable and the pot stickers (tried both steamed and pan fried) were gianormous and delish!!! My kids loved the angel hair like pan fried noodles. The only compliant was the pot sticker sauce. DISGUSTING!!! It was like red vinegar with ginger silvers. I prefer the goyza sauce (ginger garlic soy). Knowing how good this place is we might just have to make this our new fav Chinese spot (previously in love with Tong's Tiki Hut)!!!!
